Information: This passport forms part of the Bob Norton Collection. It belonged to Bob when he was a small boy. Although the family were fleeing what was then Czechoslovakia, Bob's place of birth, Bob held a Hungarian passport as his father had retained his Hungarian citizenship.

Further Information

Bob Norton was born in 1932 in Teplitz Schönau, Czechoslovakia. The family lived in Teplitz during Bob’s early childhood. They kept the main Jewish holidays, but were not especially religious. Bob’s father was from Budapest, Hungary and retained his Hungarian citizenship which later helped them to get travel documents. Bob’s mother was from Czechoslovakia. Having first fled to Prague, the family fled again in 1939 to England with the original intention to move on to America. This passport belonged to Bob and documents the family's journey to England from what was then Czechoslovakia, now Czech Republic.
