School Bookings Secondary Schools & Post-16 Secondary and Post-16 Learning “We had an excellent day… incredibly thought provoking and well organised. Our students were encouraged to reflect on events not only during the Holocaust itself but how it links to current events and lessons we should learn and apply in our own lives.” Secondary school teacher We ask the big questions facing your students: why does hatred persist? How should we treat others? How do we think for ourselves? In a world of online hate and conspiracy theories, now more than ever we need to learn the lessons of the Holocaust. We can deliver our programmes to any school in the UK: you can visit our beautiful museum in Nottinghamshire; we can come to your school; or your students can learn with us online. Our secondary school programmes are based on our Holocaust Exhibition. Students learn about the Holocaust and why it happened through objects, survivor testimony and educator-led workshops. Your students will think critically about individual and societal responsibility as well as considering modern challenges such as online hatred and conspiracy theories. You can also choose optional extra workshops for GCSE students that are based on the requirements of the English Language, History and Religious Studies specifications. Our Programmes Linked to the KS3, 4 and 5 English, History, R.E., PSHE and Citizenship curriculums Supports the personal development of young people Aim to develop knowledge and critical thinking skills Led by our masters-level trained educators who are former school teachers Holocaust exhibition, museum objects and survivor testimony What will our students be able to do by the end of the programme? Age 14-16: Students will be able to describe why the Holocaust is unique and explain the legacy of anti-Jewish hate in the 19th and 20th centuries as well as the evolution of the Holocaust. They will be able to evaluate responsibility for the Holocaust and explain the ways in which states and governments continue to discriminate today. Finally, your students will be able to show how modern anti-Jewish ideology and tropes link back to pre-Holocaust prejudice and judge for themselves what their own responsibility as well as the responsibility of governments, institutions and individuals is to others, including on social media. Age 16-18: Students will be able to explain the different perspectives given for why the Holocaust happened as well as where anti-Jewish prejudice is evidenced in modern and historical literature. Post-16 students will also be able to evaluate whether the Holocaust could have been stopped, as well as what has led to Holocaust distortion and denial. Finally, students will be able to evaluate how genocide has happened since 1945 as well as provide a judgement on the roles that social media and conspiracy theories play in furthering discrimination.
