Key Stage 2 and Year 7 Learning Programmes Our primary school programmes are based on ‘The Journey’: students follow Leo, a German Jewish child in 1930s Berlin. Leo’s character is based on the testimonies of Holocaust survivors. Pupils learn about the discrimination that led to the Holocaust. Visit Us: During your 4-hour visit, which includes a guided immersive experience in our ‘Journey’ Exhibition, memorial gardens visit as well as interactive experiences with a Holocaust survivor, our team will ask your students to reflect on important questions: What does it feel like to be seen as ‘different’? Why and how can ordinary people become refugees? What is our responsibility to people and how should we behave? We Can Come To You: We visit schools across the country, delivering a workshop which enables students to learn about the Kindertransport through Leo’s story and museum objects. If your school has a pupil premium of 25% or over, the tuition cost can be covered by generous funding from The Association of Jewish Refugees. This would leave only expenses to be paid by your school. The workshop lasts 2.5 hours and can be delivered in the morning and afternoon to different classes. If you have more than two classes, then simply book two of our educators to visit! We offer additional workshops for schools visiting us: SATs Explore Workshop (Reading): This workshop gives your pupils the chance to explore a classic poem taken from our museum collection. Pupils will discuss questions that reflect a SATs Reading paper. Report Workshop (writing using moderation techniques): This workshop puts your pupils in the position of an international journalist reporting in the aftermath of Kristallnacht. Pupils write a voiceover using original footage. Discovery Workshop: This workshop provides your pupils the opportunity to evaluate historical sources, including Holocaust objects, and follow clues in order to understand a Holocaust survivor’s experiences. Will they build the right journey? Create Workshop: This workshop provides your pupils with the opportunity to develop and produce a significant piece of writing after following Leo, the young German-Jewish boy from the Journey. Pupils will be able to complete the writing at home or back in school.
