Further Information:

This album belonged to Ellen Rawson. The album contained eleven photographs, mostly of Ellen's father's business, although there is also a photo of Ellen and her younger brother as babies.

Ellen's father, Hans, was a businessman and visited other countries including England, selling materials for tailors. They sold cloth, linings, buttons, and other goods associated with the trade. The photographs contained in this album depict a cross-section of life within their firm.

As the family were Jewish, their business was taken from them during the Holocaust. Ellen survived as she was sent to England on the Kindertransport, her parents were murdered by the Nazi regime.
