As a mark of respect, the National Holocaust Centre and Museum will be closed on Friday July 29th for the funeral of our cherished co-founder and matriarch Marina Smith MBE. Marina passed away aged 87 on June 26th 2022.

On behalf of all our staff and supporters old and new, we offer our heartfelt condolences to Marina’s husband the Reverend Eddie Smith, sons and Beth Shalom co-founders Dr Stephen Smith MBE and Dr James Smith CBE, and to her seven grandchildren.

May Marina’s soul rest in peace. May her astonishing acts of charity, counselling and healing be an example to us all. May her memory be a blessing on everyone who knew her and on the many hundreds of Holocaust survivors and other people whose lives she enriched for so many years.

We pledge to remember Marina for everything she has done for us, for the family of Holocaust survivors she so lovingly nurtured and cared for, and for the world.
