Sir Ben Helfgott 1929-2023

We are deeply sorry that Sir Ben Helfgott, a colossus among Holocaust survivors and a pillar of the British Jewish community, has passed away this morning.

Our profound condolences to his wife, sons and his sister and fellow survivor, Mala Tribich.

Our Chairman Henry Grunwald KC writes:

Baruch Dayan ‘Ben was my mentor who taught me so much about how to love my life. Despite all that he had been through he taught me not to hate. He was a truly remarkable human being’.

Marc Cave, Museum Director:

A true Samson of our times. One who collapsed no temples but built his legacy on three powerful pillars
