This photograph forms part of the Bernard Grunberg Collection. It shows Bernard’s sister, Gerda. The photograph was taken of Gerda at a domestic science school near Cologne. Gerda was two and a half years older than Bernard, and about seventeen years old when this photograph was taken. Bernard’s sister was murdered by the Nazi regime, along with his parents. Bernard was sent to England on the Kindertransport to escape Nazi persecution, he would never see any of his family again.
