Information: This eulogy forms part of the Lingfield House Collection. It was prepared by Zdenka Husserl following the death of Alice Goldberger. Alice had been the matron of Lingfield House, which provided a home for orphaned children who had been liberated from Nazi camps.

This Eulogy was prepared by Zdenka Husserl following the death of Ms. Alice Goldberger. Alice was herself a refugee, but was interned on the Isle of Man by the British government under a catch-all scheme interning non-nationals who were considered possible 'enemy' aliens once war was declared in September 1939. Alice ran the Kindergarten on the Isle of Man and later became the matron at Lingfield House, which provided a home for orphaned child survivors of the Holocaust. Alice was much loved by Zdenka, a child cared for at Lingfield. She was loved by all the children in her care, giving them a mother figure and a place of recouperation and safety in which they could begin to move forwards with their lives.
