This album belonged to Ellen Rawson. Ellen was born in 1922 in Königsberg, East Prussia. The family lived there happily during Ellen’s early childhood. They kept many of the Jewish holidays, and religion was an important part of family life.

The album contains 100 photographs of Ellen's family, particularly of their holidays and activities they had enjoyed such as swimming. As a child Ellen had been in the care of the family's live in nanny, and years after the end of the Second World War she sent this album to Ellen. It had been kept safe by her as treasured memories of the family.

As Ellen's family were Jewish, the increasing persecution meant Ellen was sent to England on the Kindertransport. Ellens parents were murdered in the Holocaust.
