  1. What's on?
  2. Revisit: Holocaust Memorial Day 2021

Holocaust Memorial Day: 27 January 2021

For Holocaust Memorial Day 2021, we invite you to join us for a series of commemorative livecasts which interpret in various different ways this year's theme, 'Be the Light in the Darkness'.

We are proud to mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2021 by shining a light in particular on the fake 'Race Science' which created a shared history of persecution for black and Jewish people alike for a long period before the Holocaust, and which continues today not only in the form of White Supremacism but casual everyday racism.

Linking with our globally acclaimed film for HMD 2020 and the secondary schools programme we based on it, we further explore the expression of this twin anti-black and anti-Jewish hatred in one of the world's biggest areas of contemporary culture - football.

We thank numerous partners for their support and collaboration including Genesis Philanthropy Group, Lord Mann of Holbeck Moor, Aegis Trust, Chelsea FC, Nottingham Forest FC, Nottingham Liberal Synagogue, South Hampstead Synagogue and the United Synagogue. Above all, our affectionate thanks to the members of our Survivor family who have contributed to this series of HMD webcasts: Eva Schloss MBE, Dr Martin Stern MBE and Simon Winston BEM.
