What's On Watch: Women of the Holocaust 2021 Women's History Month: Mothers of the Holocaust Join us for the second in our series of events marking Women's History Month. On Mothering Sunday Dame Helen Hyde DBE, Trustee of the National Holocaust Centre and Museum, talks to two survivors about the unique challenges of motherhood in the Holocaust and their ripples through time to this day:• Hanneke Dye: Hanneke was born while her parents were in hiding in occupied Holland. Despite no painkillers, her mother birthed her in complete silence in case the neighbours heard and informed the Nazis.• Eva Clarke BEM: Eva was born in the notorious Mauthausen camp in Austria. She was delivered as a 3lb baby to an emaciated mother who by this stage was only 5 stone herself. She was born on a cart, in the open, without any medical or other assistance. Both survived. The rest is history — a happy history. Tickets for this event are £5 with a discount for Jewish Chronicle subscriber and National Holocaust Centre members. You will receive a confirmation email on booking and a further email containing the link to watch the live event. Thank you for your support. Booking for this event has now closed.
