Beyond Imagination

Victoria Ancona-Vincent has condensed her experiences into a short, but highly informative autobiographical account. Her attention to detail goes back to the period of her captivity, when she realised the importance of remembering things accurately.

She kept a diary while she was in the Resistance, which was later confiscated by the Gestapo on her arrest. After being in Auschwitz, in the last days of war, Victoria kept a piece of paper in her shoe, on which she wrote the dates of the most significant moments of her story.

The result of this, combined with her vivid memory, is a concise yet accurately detailed record of her traumatic experiences.
